There are dozens of holiday activities this month, but several should top your “to do” list this month.

Nightly at 7:00 PM Bellevue Way is closed between NE 4th and NE 8th Streets for Snowflake Lane featuring drummers, dancers, holiday characters and a parade complete with snow every night. Arrive early, sidewalks on both sides of the street fill up quickly, but it’s definitely worth the time and effort for this holiday tradition. Kids of all ages will love the event. (www.snowflakelane.com) Free parking is available at Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square.

If you’ve never visited the Bellevue Botanical Gardens Garden D’Lights during the holidays you’re definitely missing a one-of-a-kind display. Volunteers have used over half a million lights to transform the garden-scape into a winter wonderland of plants, flowers, birds, animals and waterfalls. Admission is $5 (children under 10 are free) which is a bargain for the experience. For more hours and parking information visit www.gardendlights.org.

Another family favorite is the Bellevue Magic Season ice skating rink which returned to the Downtown Park this year. The arena is sheltered for all-weather skating and offers free skating, lessons, family skating, food and beverage concessions, music and special events. The arena can be reserved for private parties. Skating hours and event information is available at www.bellevuedowntown.com.

With less than two weeks until Christmas, be sure to make space in your schedule for at least one of these events. Garden D’Lights and skating will continue beyond Christmas for post-holiday enjoyment.
